MYS Yoga Teacher Training Process

  • Immersion

    Complete Immersion

The fastest way to learn a foreign language is to live in that country while you learn. We feel it is the same for yoga. The best way to learn is to completely immerse yourself in the practice: training weekends, virtual training, self practice, reflection, teaching practice, partner practice, books, movies, music, etc.

“Maha” means great and this training is designed to deepen your wisdom, expand your potentiality, soften your heart, and help you become great.

  • Heart-Led Teaching & Training

We have 10 teachers who are excited to share what they love most about yoga. These powerful transmissions will alter you and your life. It will help you develop both depth and range in your yoga practice.

This training will never be boring. No textbooks. No papers. Just good old fashioned learning from great beings. Keep what you love and don’t worry about the rest. Ultimately helping you to connect to your heart, Truth, and purpose.

  • Teaching yoga

    Teach While Your Learn

We feel that the best way to learn to teach is to teach. So you will have opportunities at both the in person weekends and virtually between weekends, to practice leading others through parts of a yoga class. Little by little you will become more confident in your skills to lead until you are able to lead an entire demo class.

There will be supportive community love-back (different than feedback) that will help you grow and develop.

  • Kirtan

Kirtan - The music of yoga

Yoga stems far beyond asana - the physical pose practice. One of our loves is kirtan - the music of yoga. It is an ancient chanting practice that is said to be most effective during the Kaliyuga (this period of time in the world).

It will help you find your True Voice, which you will use to teach, create relationships, and lead. The practice will change you on a cellular level, freeing your Soul to express as it will.

  • Sangha - Learn in Community

A large part of yoga is sangha (community). You will immediately feel the power of the Shala’s community and the perfection of the people who are in this training with you. The challenges and breakthroughs that others experience will support your own growth and development. The ways you support others will empower you. There will be ample opportunity to practice with your classmates and develop lasting friendships.

  • Seva

    Seva - Selfless Service

The more one practices Seva (selfless service) the more free one becomes. Yoga teaching is an opportunity to practice seva as it is a call of the Soul. We will also provide many other opportunities to be of service to the community and world. This may include feeding the hungry, supporting other community members, sharing music with those in need, etc.
